Dave England set the tests with an enormous amount of thought, allowing dogs to show their natural ability for marking, hunting and control. The ground at Bisterne is simply superb - a massive wood with dykes, bracken, long grass, ditches and much more, making it a paradise for gundog work. Four of the tests involved a mark each and then a blind. These required the dogs to jump fences and make their way to the retrieve through many "bunkers". The 5th test was a drive with a spaniel hunting and retrieving in front, after which all three members of the team were sent to various places where the drive had been through. There was a bonus of a blind out of a wood into a field for which our team member Jim Collins gained full marks.
It was a privilege to run at this estate and to win the event was a massive bonus for us and for GWGC. Second place went to Dukeries (Notts) Gundog Club, whose Tarnedge Jaina, handled by Claire Carvis, received the Top Dog award. Third place was taken by Utility Gundog Society, Surrey, West Sussex & Hampshire and fourth place by United Retriever Club Bucks."
