Open 2-Day Open Field Trial  - 30th/31st October 2023

The Club held its 2-Day Open Stake at the Ampton Estate on Monday, 31st October and Tuesday, 1st November 2023. Thank you very much to Peter Rushbrook for once again allowing the Club to use his grounds for the stake and to headkeeper Alan Hammond for looking after us so well.  Our excellent guns, organised by club chairman Chris Geal, shot very well and the supply of game was steady and varied, as was the terrain.

Thank you to our very able judges – Jayne Coley, Laura Hill, Andrew Slingsby and Louie Robertson – for giving up their precious time.  They made a very cohesive and experienced team and kept the days flowing.  And thank you to the incredible team of helpers who turn up every trial and always know just what needs doing and make the days work so well.  Thank you to our sponsors for all of their support – Silent Pool Gin and Skinners.  And lastly, to all of the competitors who created a lovely atmosphere in the gallery and provided us with some very good dog work.

Novice Field Trial - 5th October 2022

The Club was very fortunate to hold a 14 dog Novice stake at Windsor Great Park by kind permission of His Majesty the King and The Crown Commissioners.  Head Keeper and Steward of the Beat, Peter Clayton, and his very capable team looked after us wonderfully, providing a steady flow of pheasant and partridge throughout the day.  Our team of crack guns, all veterans of shooting at Windsor, was kindly organised by John Stubbs and they let very little escape their efforts.  We appreciate you shooting for us enormously as without you we would have no sport.  Thank you very much.  Our judges for the day were Di Harrison, James Bailey, Kelvin Nettleingham and Bill Gardiner.  Thank you so much for your support and for making time in your busy schedules to come and judge for us today.

I would also like to give a very big thank you to my team of helpers and committee members who turn up without fail and do so much to ensure the day is a success. There was a smattering of rain and challenging scenting conditions but the competitors and their dogs all gave it their best effort and the atmosphere throughout the trial was very convivial.
