The Guildford Working Gundog Club 2 Day Qualifying Stake was held at the Ampton Estate on November 3-4 by kind permission of Peter Rushbrook. The club would like to say a big thank you to all of the team at Ampton for all they do for our sport.

The weather was mixed over the two days but that did not dampen anyone’s spirits and there was a lovely atmosphere throughout the trial.

Our judges were Heather Bradley, Colin Pelham, Steve Cullis and Andy Mutimer. They worked together as a good team to judge fairly but firmly throughout and helped significantly in maintaining a nice flow to the trial over the two days. A big thank you to you all.

Chris Geal, our chairman, organised the guns and he came up with a cracking team. They are all experienced and have shot at many trials which meant always the right number of birds on the ground at any one time. They also enjoy the dog work and are good at marking their birds. Another big thank you to Chris Geal, Andrew Bailey, Jason Barnes, Geoff Allen, Paul Marsh and Kevin Kirkham.

Our Steward of the Beat may be young but he is amply experienced, very calm and knew exactly where to find the birds – there were never too many nor too few. Thank you to David for your knowledgeable and calm guidance.

Helpers are the key to a successful day – a huge thank you to Lisa Murrell, Jane Best, Lauren Wright, Luke Wright, Jude Curtis and Liz Barnes. Thank you also to Angie Musk who kindly agreed to come and pick up for us.

Thank you as well to our sponsors – Skinners Dog Food and Silent Pool Gin.
